You lie on your sheets around 1/3 of the day, so it's essential that you have at least two sets of sheets. It's always good to have a clean back up set ready to go. Here are things to look for when registering for sheets.
1. Thread Count = Don't get hung up on the thread count of sheets. A higher thread count does not always mean a higher quality sheet. Focus more on what they are made of.
2. The Fabric = Synthetic fabrics tend to trap heat and will make you sweaty. Opt for something that is a Pima or Egyptian cotton.
Above are the Wamsutta Dream Zone 750-Thread-Count PimaCott Collection. They are made with Pure PimaCott, a verified pure Pima cotton, grown in San Joaquin Valley, CA. The extra-long, dense fibers make PimaCott softer, more durable, and more vibrant than regular cotton.
They are incredibly soft, cool to the touch, and they have these amazingly deep pockets that go over the corners. It is such a pet peeve of mine when the sheet corners creep up in the middle of the night. The sheet set comes with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillowcases. Personally, I always lean towards crisp white sheets. It brings on that whole hotel vibe.
Depending on the season, you are going to need a quilt/blanket below your comforter/duvet. I cannot stress enough how much I am in love with this Ted Baker London Quilted Scallop Coverlet. The design looks like a bunch of little rainbows and it just feels like it belongs in a posh hotel. It also comes with two pillowcases with zippers. FYI, if it has a zipper that means it is fancy. Seriously!
You are also going to need a top comforter, especially in the fall and winter months. We opted for the Chic Home Chaya 7-Piece Comforter Set in teal velvet. A chic texture that everyone loves to feel on their skin, this delicate, super soft teal is definitely having a moment right now. Once the cold weather has passed, pack it up and store it away. You'll have your Ted Baker London Quilted Scallop Coverlet for the warmer months.
One thing we always see left off of wedding registries are throw blankets. These are key to coziness. They will add color, pattern, and texture to the overall look and feel of your bed. Plus, they are a must, must, must when you need to snuggle, but do not want to fully commit to getting under the covers. Yes, adding throw blankets to your wedding registry is imperative.
We added the Valeron Victoria Blanket in gold to add a pop of color to our regal bed. It is luxuriously soft, because it is 5% cashmere. I love lying in bed and dipping my toes underneath for a bit of warmth.
Ready for THE BEST throw blanket in the world? Do you see it above? It is the UGG Harper Chenille Square Throw Blanket (and it's not available online, but you can score it in-store!). Everyone in our house wants to use it. In fact, all the UGG blankets are equally as dreamy and buttery soft. I am also eyeing the UGG Allegra Faux Fur Throw Blanket, so that everyone in the house can have one. As I mentioned before, throw blankets are a must.
Don't forget about the floors! Adding a luxurious shaggy rug to your bedroom will transform your master bedroom into a master suite. Instantly adding warmth to the overall look and feel of the room. We added the soft and elegant nuLOOM Easy Shag Rug in White. Trust us, your toes will thank you.
Now that we have the bed covered, you mustn't forget to add a few key elements to your wedding registry for your nightstand / bedside table. By adding these simple elements, your bedroom will look polished and feel complete. Not to mention, a nightstand (just like a cute bar cart) is just such a snappable photo moment...
1. Lamp
Every nightstand needs light. Your lamp is going to be the tallest element on your bedside table. Select something that is not overpowering or too big. You want it to have a subtle presence, but also to give off some light. We also suggest selecting a soft white light bulb (2,700 to 3,000 Kelvin). This
light
gives a warm and cozy feeling. We love the fashion-forward Safavieh Gibson Table Lamp. Its brass and gold finish will accentuate ANY bedside table.
2. Natural or Organic Element
Adding fresh florals, a small plant or anything living, really, will literally make your bedroom look more alive and brighter. This is why adding a small vase to your wedding registry is such a great idea. Not only is it an affordable and lovely gift for a guest to buy, but you will use it forever. The Lenox Brush Strokes Ombré 4-Inch Vase is the ideal vase for your nightstand. Call us Goldilocks, because this one isn't too big or too small. It's just right.
3. Photos or Something Personal
Adding a photo of the two of you will bring a smile to your face every time you roll over. Be sure to register for the right amount of frames to properly display your wedding photos around your home. Pictures are not just meant for your phone. We're head over heels in love with the Olivia and Oliver picture frames. They seriously offer just the right amount of metallic edge. Above is the
Mila Gold Frame and the Harper Polished Gold Picture Frame.
4. Ring / Jewelry Holder
Sleeping and putting your body weight on your hands in this way can slowly put pressure on the ring and cause it to lose its shape, risking accent stone loss. Just a little tip from a few jewelry experts. That is why it is a wise idea to keep your rings close by. Add a ring holder like the Emma Ring Holder from Olivia & Oliver to your registry to place all your baubles on while you sleep.
5. Diffuser
I am a huge fan of diffusers! Did you know that diffusing a bit of lavender in your room at night not only smells beautiful, it actually offers calming and soothing properties that can help reduce stress? There are so many
amazing diffusers to select from at Bed Bath and Beyond, we went with the SpaRoom Mysto Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser. It can run up 8-10 hours of intermittent operation with 5 oz. of water, always giving your room that smell-good feeling.
