It may be a bit selfish of us to want to see photos of the actual moment when the question is popped, ... (pictures or it didn't happen!)... but man can you really blame us? This adorable couple who had spent most of their relationship working around the distance between the two separate states that they call home, closed that gap in one of the most heart warming and stunning sunset shoots we have seen in a while!
You can see every last image of this golden hour shoot in the full gallery thanks to the talents of Jax Connolly Photo!
From Jax Connolly Photo: I spent a gorgeous evening with Shreya and Sagar, two beautiful souls who have been in a loving long distance relationship and who have made traveling together the lace of their love. Shreya and Sagar met eventually, but it took two close friends of theirs to help bridge that gap. When the two independently decided to join their mutual friends on a “random” friend trip to D.C., their lives were forever changed. Falling in love with each other after that was seamless, even while living in different states, and over time as they traveled to see each other all around the country, it was clear to them that their love was everlasting.
Shreya coming from Tennessee and Sagar coming from Florida flew separately to San Diego for a weekend getaway creating yet another memory together, but this time was extraordinary. On top of coming here to see a Coldplay concert at Qualcomm Stadium and go to the San Diego Zoo, Sagar had booked a long awaited photo shoot for the two of them. Since Shreya had been wanting to take professional photos with Sagar, this surprise photo shoot did not throw her off. Instead, she was excited to finally get photos and was prepping HIM for the shoot. Little did she know that Sagar and I had been masterminding this surprise proposal at one of San Diego’s finest viewpoints, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, weeks before.
Sagar and I sent many text messages back and forth discussing his romantic proposal ideas that included not only one of the most idyllic viewpoints in San Diego, but red and blush rose petals raining down on them as he got down on one knee. This idea was so exciting that I went to work locating a florist to make this possible!
We warmed up on a street that leads to the cliffs and then edged our way closer and closer to an extraordinary overlook clear of people. We had 15 minutes before sunset, so I told Shreya that I had brought petals and just to have fun and throw them up in the air. She did, throwing them up three separate times: once facing me, once facing away from me, and on the third time, throwing them up, turning, and facing Sagar. On the third time, Sagar got down on one knee with a stunning engagement ring in his hand.
When Shreya turned around she was in shock. Her hands quickly went to her mouth as tears of joy streamed down her face. Shreya and Sagar melted into each other, and in that moment I got to witness their beautiful raw emotions for each other. The surprise was shockingly sweet with tears of joy and her yes could be felt near and far.
Shreya and Sagar come from big Indian families and Sagar made sure to ask Shreya's parents for their blessing in asking her to marry him. Both families knew the proposal was going to happen and when they heard they got busy planning their engagement party (pre-poposal). When the proposal day came, their families were eagerly waiting to hear about the proposal and see the photos!
