When you have dated someone for ten years it goes without saying that you have plenty of favorite things you like to do together. With this in mind Brooke and Andrew decided to make their Engagement Session all about highlighting their favorite memories. From a sweet tooth inspired picnic to riding cruiser bikes on the beach this shoot is as sweet as the couple it features.
But there's more! As always be sure to stop by the full gallery to see all of the adorable moments captured by Koman Photography and keep reading to hear just how Andrew popped the question to Brooke!
Andrew and I met in 2004 through a mutual friend when we were both just 16 years old. Upon our first meeting, Andrew was immediately interested in me but I couldn’t get over his baggy pants, basketball jerseys, and ridiculous slicked back hair.
Regardless of my initial disinterest, Andrew pursued me and ended up winning my heart through hours of AIM chat sessions and a few trips to the movies. Our love developed over the years and has turned into the greatest love that I can ever imagine to be possible.
Everything that we used in our engagement photo shoot had a meaning behind it. We used a picnic scene which was special to us since Andrew prepared a picnic for my first birthday that we celebrated together. Cupcakes and macarons were incorporated into our shoot because of our mutual love for sweets treats and cruiser bikes were a necessity because we must have rented bikes at least 50 times while we were dating.
The beach location was especially significant to us because Andrew asked me to be his girlfriend on a beach in Malibu and then later asked me to be his wife on a beach in Maui.
Proposal:
After 9 years of dating, Andrew finally proposed to me on a private beach in Maui on August 18, 2013. I was completely caught off guard and had no idea it was coming because of Andrew’s sneaky ways. Weeks leading up to our departure, he kept telling me that we would try on rings after our trip to determine my ring size and he would say other things that swayed me from thinking that he was going to propose to me during our trip. Then to top it off, Andrew had a minor accident where a rock was thrown at his face the day before our trip (he’s okay!) so we went to Maui with his swollen, black eye. I didn’t think that he could ever propose to me looking like that but now that I think about it, I’m glad that he did. Our story is so different from the cookie cutter high school sweethearts that you hear about and our unusual proposal added to our “unique-ness”. Andrew hired a professional photographer to capture the moment of the proposal and I am forever grateful for that because I never want to forget that moment. It was one of the happiest days of my life and I can’t wait to finally be called Mrs. Brooke Lee!
