On the morning of July 25th, 2020 my fiancé proposed in the most intimate and beautiful way here in our Houston home. It turned out to be a stormy day, so he whisked me away for a staycation at the Post Oak Hotel where we spent a romantic weekend at the restaurants and spa. Months later, as we began to plan our wedding, we knew that because The Post Oak held a special place in our hearts, this is where we would want to celebrate our big day.
As we began to look for vendors, there was no question that Barett with CivicPhotos was the person we wanted to capture our wedding and every important moment leading up to it. As we began to plan the engagement session, Barett had the wonderful idea to take the photos at The Post Oak Hotel. We knew that spending the day capturing these loving moments at our venue would be the perfect way to set the tone for our wedding!
The session focused on multiple locations within the hotel, all with a unique ambiance, to capture a range of styles from daytime casual to formal. We began the day with sweet moments at Bouchée Patisserie before making our way up the beautiful spiral staircase to the crystal chandelier and the Motor Cars showroom. While every space in the hotel is incredible, the most spectacular experiences were had within the presidential suite and on the rooftop helipad. You could tell, just by the approach to these entryways, that you were about to enter an exceptional space. With multiple bedrooms, a private gym, gorgeous living spaces, and stunning views of the city, this presidential suite was the definition of extravagant!
Although we could have stayed in that suite forever, we eventually made our way to the last scene of the session on the helipad. To get there was an experience in itself, as staff took us through multiple elevators and doorways before eventually coming upon a staircase. From the bottom of the stairs, all that could be seen was a glass wall with a set of doors, but, as we made our way up, a breathtaking view of Houston was revealed. This, by far, was one of the greatest experiences and views we have had in any city, and having photos that captured our excitement made it even more special.
Saying goodbye to these spaces was difficult, but we feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to capture these memories in such fabulous locations. Between the amazing team at The Post Oak Hotel and CivicPhotos, the day of our engagement session was nothing short of magical! Having a team that is so organized and supportive, not only helps us to feel calm but also allows us to pause and relish in these cherished moments before our wedding day.
