My name is Daniela Dib. I am from Vancouver, BC! I am a fitness instructor, Master SoulCycle instructor as well as run online fitness classes @danieladibfitness. I got engaged last summer to a wonderful man named Dave.
Dave and I meet in a bar 10 years ago, and had been dating on and off ever since. As a former professional dancer, I moved around a lot, and lived abroad for 6 years between NYC and LA. Although there were times where we were not dating due to long distance, our hearts were always connected. When I finally had the chance to move back to Vancouver, B.C, we were thrilled to be together again.
Last summer, Dave proposed to me on top of a mountain in Whistler, B.C (photos attached) I was OVERJOYED. This incredible man , who I had celebrated many years of my life with, was finally going to be my husband! We made plans for our summer of 2020 wedding, and set the date to July 18th. Of course, when Covid hit, things looked a little different for us!
Not wanting our special date of July 18th 2020 to go without some sort of celebration, we hosted an extremely intimate, outdoor and socially distanced backyard Engagement Party. Our great hope is that by next summer, we can come together with all of our family and friends to celebrate our big day. Our party had our wedding party as well as our immediate family in attendance.
My dress was originally meant to be worn as my wedding reception gown, but I could not wait to put it on! It is an Ines Di Santo gown of the 2020 collection.
Our venue was a stunning backyard location in West Vancouver, B.C. Overlooking the water, with an infinity pool on the balcony, it was the perfect spot to socially distance but also enjoy the atmosphere with our nearest and dearest.
Our decor was simple and kept spaced out to adhere to the social distancing rules. Small canopy tents, bar stools and an intimate lounge, complete with hand sanitizer was seen. Our flowers were whites with dusty pinks and a splash of greenery.
Although not what we had planned, the day turned out to be spectacular. So many brides have been affected by Covid, and wedding planning is no easy feat! It was so special to be able to host something so beautiful, even during the disappointment of a postponed wedding.
Rescheduling such an important day is not without its struggles, but I believe my fiance and I found the silver lining and made the most of a tough situation. We believe there are blessings all around us, and it's our job to notice them.
We felt blessed to be able to host this very intimate engagement party, and we are now more excited than ever to finally get our dream wedding next summer.
