Beautiful Cinderella Surprise Engagement

Bride and groom posing with a flower bouquet outdoor

I believe there's a secret buried in each of our hearts that desperately seeks our very own fairytale. These fairytales come in all shapes and sizes - whether you're a big city lover, a casual jean and t-shirt gal or dream of ballgowns and old world charm. We're all in search of our happy ending.

For bride-to-be Justine, she's all about glamour and romance. One of her all-time favorite movies is the 1965 version of Rodger's and Hammerstien's Cinderella. Her very own prince charming pulled off a beautiful Cinderella surprise engagement with the help of The Day's Design, all stunningly photographed by Samantha James Photography. Shhh It's A Surprise

From The Day's Design: When I heard that Prince Charming was plotting to propose, I asked Justine (who happens to be my sister) to model for a simple bouquet shoot that I was putting together. But in my heart of hearts, I know that styled shoots are much better when they celebrate real life. Spring Sweet so graciously said we could use her darling shop as a backdrop - she'd dress our "model" in a gorgeous gown and accessories and then Spring and I went to work dressing up her already beautiful staircase with a blooming floral installation.

Bringing All The Details Together

We were able to pamper our "Cinderella" with hair and makeup from Cheeky Strut. Her favorite photographer, Sam of Samantha James Photography, came on board to photograph the moment as it was to unfold and Katie Grace Photography & Videography gave us the memories in action. The details were all thoughtfully selected, from the groom to be choosing a ring who's style name was the same as her grandma's (the Margaret), to a twist on Cinderella's traditional rhinestone tiara and the section of some of the bride-to-be's favorite spring blossoms. And her bouquet, created by Shelby of The Day's Design, was tied with Silk and Willow's Cinderella blue ribbon.

A Cinderella Engagement

So at the stroke of 6:00 pm, the store closed and we sent Justine downstairs to find her shoes. "10 Minutes Ago" (from Rodgers and Hammerstien's Cinderella musical) started playing as she descended down the staircase. Gold calligraphy letters spelling out "Will You Marry Me?" sat on the treads of each step. And then appeared her man, holding a pair of glittering heels and an engagement ring.
