Okay, SO, at this point in our social distancing experiment, it’s pretty safe to say that everyone is ready to get away. And not just somewhere, but far, far away from the mess that has befallen us this past month. For couples who were looking forward to tying the knot in 2020, though, they’re feeling whole other levels of disappointment and disbelief - and we get it, the grieving is real. That’s why we can’t wait to see how things shake out for these soonlyweds once all of this 💩 is over. Until then, let’s just thirst over the turnaround - one that hopefully ends with smiling lovers riding off into the sunset together. Afloral hasn’t stopped dreaming about those happy endings, and all of them involve a 🙌🙌🙌 getaway car. So, we helped them come up with a flush-with-florals look that’s well worth waiting for. (P.S. If you find yourself saying ‘nope, we’re still getting married, we can reschedule the pomp and circumstance for another time - for now, this day just belongs to us,’ this getaway vibe is yours, too! #elopementgoals).
Afloral has an endless, scrolling page of DIYs from cylinder vase centerpieces to festive flower hats - and each project comes with supply call-outs and step-by-step instructions to ensure you’re thrilled with the final result. Sure, it’s spring, and we all want to be out and about, but as long as we’re quarantining, floral market meetups are pretty frowned upon. Afloral’s got artificial flowers FTW, though, so you can create and make till your heart’s content - without ever having to leave your house. We’re partial to deck designing with a spritzer in hand, but you do you!!
Start by placing your moss in chicken wire and secure it close with wire and zip ties. The moss in the chicken wire will act as your foundation and it’s great, because the material is super flexible. You can tailor it 👌to the shape and design of your getaway car (whether it’s an old-fashioned coupe, a golf cart, a carriage, etc.).
Start adding your greenery by sticking the stems into the moss and angling them to create a garland-type look. Trim off any excess stems hanging off and secure to the chicken wire with zip ties.
Time to start adding the flowers. As we always suggest, you’ll want to start by placing your big focal point flowers first and then filling in with the smaller flowers, as needed. Trim the stems down to your desired length and gently place into your moss and greenery.
Once you’re happy with the layout, then you can begin to hot glue your stems in place. When designing our piece, we wanted the flowers to pop and create an illusion that there was a garden growing out of our getaway car. It’s fun and whimsical, not to mention, the quirk has tons of Gram worthiness.
As soon as all your glue has dried, bring the project out to your car and secure the install with zip ties. Fasten all your wedding gifts to the top of your car, jump in, and let your ride take you wherever the wind is blowing. Hopefully it’s to the airport, where you’ll board a jetliner and head off to a well-deserved vacation destination. ✌️😎
Even if you’re still on the fence about doing two weddings or just postponing, since Afloral does everything with high-quality silks and botanically-accurate, real touch florals, you don’t have to worry about your getaway glow going away. You can make our DIY project for an intimate vow exchange RN, and then bring it out for an encore performance when you have the main event. Who knows, you might even want to swap out the signage and take it for another spin for future milestone drives (i.e. ‘off to our honeymoon,’ ‘baby on board,’ ‘just dropped the kid off at college…’ hey! we’re just thinking ahead 😉).
