After all that decorating, we wanted to sit down with one of our favorite salads as of late made by Amy. Not only is this Pear Salad recipe delicious and beautiful, it's really easy to whip up. You just need to pick up are a few things to make one tasty salad.
Pear Salad Ingredients: 3 Red Anju Pears, Baby Spinach, 1/4 cup Gorgonzola Cheese, 1/4 cup Almonds, 1 tablespoon Olive Oil, 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar, 3 pinches of Sugar in the Raw, salt and pepper to taste.
Step One:
Start off by cutting the pears into bite size pieces.
Below are a few tips on how to ensure your pears are ripe:• Leave firm, unripe pears at room temperature so that they can ripen.• Check the neck of your pear for ripeness everyday, by gently applying pressure to the neck, or stem with your thumb. If it yields to the gentle pressure, then it’s ripe and ready for your salad• Once your pears are ripe, you can refrigerate them if you are not ready to make your salad. This will slow the ripening process up to five days.
Step Two:
Put almonds into a ziplock and use a mallet to crush them into tiny pieces.
Step Three:
Add pears and spinach to a large salad bowl. Then add oil and balsamic and toss. Next add fresh ground pepper and salt — to taste — as well as about 3 pinches of sugar in the raw. Serve Immediately.
This salad is a great appetizer, but if you want to make it a meal simply add some chicken. All the plates and silverware are from West Elm — including the cute air plants! Sip on Izze Sparkling Grapefruit and you have one tasty meal.
