We all definitely forgot that the world kept on turning this past weekend, when Priyanka and Nick got married, but there was another epic wedding weekend happening in Tulum, Mexico. Starring Billions’ Malin Akerman and BBC’s Atlantis’ Jack Donnelly. TOTALLY different vibe, but that’s why we loved it.
I’ve been a Malin fan for a long time and can watch The Heartbreak Kid pretty much any time it’s on. She plays the role of crazy new wifey soooooo well! But for her real-life second wedding, the blonde was as relaxed as they come - bohemian bride goals X100000. And instead of wearing a white ruffled lace slip dress, she showed up to her beachy I Dos in a custom pink slip dress from Cushnie. When we say the dress was everything a destination/beach wedding dress should be, we mean it in the most literal sense. EVERYTHING.

If you’re not already familiar with Cushnie, the luxury ready-to-wear and made-in-NYC atelier is an A-lister favorite that celebrates modern femininity, form, and focus. Pieces are super simple, classic, and creative AF, and now that its namesake designer, Carly Cushnie, unveiled her debut bridal iteration at bridal market this fall, we can guarantee that Malin’s Tulum triumph will be turning a lotttt more brides onto this sexy and elegant aesthetic for their own wedding days.
Sooo, let’s talk about the dress.

It looked like this, obvi, and it fit Malin perrrrrfectly. The actress told Brides and Vogue that she and her stylist, Molly Fishkin Levin, tapped Cushnie since she’s “worn many of their pieces to events and has always felt so chic and cool in their stuff.” And when it came to deciding on a hue, she didn’t want something traditional for I Do, “I decided on a color instead of white because it’s the second time round and I wanted it to be different.”
Yes. Yes. Yes. Truer words for what works 👌 for second weddings have never been spoken.
From the fringey cold-shoulder sleeves to the deep v neck, sexy, slinky slip fit to the extra-high side slit, Carly killed it with the design for Malin’s Mexico nuptials - and we can’t wait to see more destination brides follow her couture cues.
