How To DIY Your Bathroom on a (Major) Budget
In January of 2020, we bought a small (very small) 888 square foot 1950 - 2 bedroom, 1 bath house with the help of Own it Nashville. She's a cutie and sits on just under a third of an acre. She came equipped with tiny closets, an overgrown backyard, popcorn ceilings, a dishwasher on wheels, no vent for the stove, exposed plumbing and electrical, asbestos shingles, and so much more - but we love her. She needs tons of love and we're doing some of the updates ourselves. After getting quoted nearly 20k for a full bathroom remodel (this quote included taking out the old cast iron tub and putting in a walk-in shower with floor to ceiling tile), we decided to scale back on our wants and just do it ourselves. We ended up doing everything for below the cost of we were quoted for DEMO alone.

DIY Shelves
We made the shelves from leftover closet studs taken from the bedroom and the brackets were made from the packaging supports that came with the mirror.
Door Knob
We found the doorknob in the bathroom closet and spray painted it black.
Before
The old bathroom had asbestos popcorn ceilings, 7+ layers of paint, a wobbly toilet, a vanity and mirror set we weren't in love with, ugly old floors, an over the toilet storage unit and a light fixture that appeared to be installed upside down.
