Earthy Modern Wedding Meets Vintage Store Delights

Newlyweds gaze lovingly at each other by a bright window

Big cities all have a certain feel and personality. You know the instant you visit or see a photo, that is definitely New York, or LA, or Austin. This next earthy toned wedding inspiration dreamed up by A Little Grace A Little Lace Events and Sarah Olivia Photo, is delightfully Portland! All these gorgeous details have the air of having been found in some tucked away antique shop and assembled at this vintage-inspired modern wedding day.

From the bride's 60's chic dress and modern cropped bob to the grooms cropped pants and artfully mussed hair, you will feel transported to Oregon's west coast weird city. So keep scrolling, and don't forget to stop by the full gallery for even more PDX inspired wedding ideas!

Old + New = Bold

True love is a feeling that spans generations. Couples existing in today’s modern world who tend to relate to the description of “old souls” may enjoy the touches of old lace on their gowns but with a back plunge for twists of mood. Or perhaps decor with vintage flair but mixed with modern day calligraphy.

When planning a wedding such as this, it’s about sharing their vows with their most familiar and devoted friends and family in a space that encompasses historical youth, warmth, and class. The Historic Cedar Schoolhouse in Troutdale, OR is perfect for this union with its large classroom windows opening up to the front garden, vaulted ceilings, and historic wood walls, all preserved as the city’s first educational building in 1857.

A Vintage Edgy Love

Merging old and new elements alike for this shoot, and inspired by delicate and vintage details, Sarah Olivia Photo and A Little Grace A Little Lace Events knew that earth tones paired with crisp white accents and light touches of a deep passionate red and soft rose as the perfect color pallet to create the modern moodiness and old fashioned minimalist narrative. Bridgewood Event Rentals helped to have the table set fresh and new with feels of different textures and black silverware for that extra punch of modern.

The gown our bride wore from Bride’s For a Cause had touches of vintage modesty with a peekaboo slit near the leg and a plunging back paired with a classy/romantic face paired with bold red lips by Katarina Tiley delicately portrayed an amorous look. She was elegantly decked in Tree Myriah’s more simplistic jewelry of pearl earrings and moonstone necklace. While our dapper groom, used to wearing clothes fit to ride his motorcycle, needed a more “edgy” look - he wore his best bow tie and a white button-up shirt, rebelliously rolled at the sleeve, and cropped dress pants.

Cake 'n' Flowers

We fell even more in love with this shoot when we saw our sweetheart cake arrive adorned in a top tier resembling leather sweetly placed on the ruffled blush bottom tier crafted by Cake Nouveau PDX. The invitation suite and menu cards provided by Wander Love Designs added a modern simplistic element that was a gorgeous accent to our moody tablescape which had the most whimsical centerpiece! Our florist, Garden Girl Flowers out of Eugene, OR grows many of her unique blossoms and has an unwavering skill at creating modern floral pieces that make you feel at home and happy. Blooms from her own backyard and neighbors’ were used in this shoot! Sarah Olivia Photo’s photographic style captured the scene with candids and detail shots alike that tell a story of the “vintage meets modern” wedding style.
