With how exquisite this glam boho wedding looks in all the jaw-dropping photos from Wild Whim, we were floored when we found out that this was the backup plan for Tami and Roy's big day! This fabulous wedding was originally planned to be beachside, but honestly, we are kind of in love with how it all pulled together at The Lodge at Malibou Lake.

I am sure that you are well aware of the devastation that hit the tiny Santa Barbara community in the Winter of 2017-2018, but in case you aren't here goes, Santa Barbara was struck with both a horrific fire that quickly became one of the largest in California, ever and then a few weeks later the much-needed rain arrived causing a mudslide which wrecked the town, took lives and caused the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore to have to close for repairs.
They say that when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. We hope you will see the sweetest lemonade, ever in this wedding which quickly had to find a new venue for the wedding and rehearsal dinner. We had every detail planned down to the minute and when we got word that the Four Seasons wouldn't be open in time for Tami and Roy's wedding we sprung into action finding a new venue- The Lodge at Malibou Lake and getting our entire team of fabulous vendors on board with the changes.
What you see pictured is a slightly different wedding then we originally planned. We went from beachside to mountains and lakeside. Due to the changes, the guest count dropped by about 50% and we made little tweaks here and there, but all in all, we stayed true to our bohemian, floral design that Tami had dreamed of for her big day. She wanted a stunning ceremony and we aim to please.
The Lodge at Malibou Lake was the perfect backdrop for Tami and Roy to say, "I Do". We designed a 10x10x10 chuppah that was dripping in florals with the expertise of Rockrose Floral (all floral design) and Bella Vista Designs (Chuppah structure, chandelier, and surprise petal cannons when the couple kissed!).
The bride walked down the aisle in a stunning gown by Galia Lahav wedding gown and for the ceremony, she wore a beaded cape- jaw dropping! She carried a Lush hand-tied bouquet - wildly textural with lots of earthy components and interesting foliages- Peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, astilbe, astrantia, spirea, eucalyptus, and agonis.
The bridesmaids wore Embroidered floral tulle dresses in two styles- Claire & Julianna in Blush Sand Dune by Jenny Yoo. We loved the texture these dresses added to the ceremony. They carried Earthy and organic hand-tied bouquets by Rockrose Floral.
Our flower girl wore a custom gown from the UK that was fit for a princess. It was made of beautiful ivory and blush tulle pink with lace appliques on the front and a sheer cape of butterflies in the back.
The ceremony started with Dramamine by Modest Mouse INTRO and for the bride, the music changed to Dreamworld Robin Thicke. After a beautiful ceremony, the couple was surprised with petal cannons right after they kissed! Wild Whim Photography and videography carpeted all the special moments throughout the day.
The cocktail hour took place on the terrace of the Lodge at Malibou Lake. To create a more intimate space we had Bella Vista Designs drape the terrace in a sheer white organza. We added a couple lounges from Bright Event Rentals that were filled with velvet pillows in colors like mauve, plum, purple and cream to complement the Spring color palette. The lounges included chandeliers to add a bit more drama. The guests were offered drinks and passed appetizers as they watched the sun slowly set over the lake.
Once the guests were invited into the dining room they found a magical room filled with lush florals, wood tables with vintage flatware, blush napkins, tons of candlelight and a dramatic high gloss white dance floor. The dining tables featured a single lush centerpiece in theme colors with lots of foliage. The florals included in the centerpiece were, garden roses and spray roses, ranunculus, astilbe, dendros, and other gorgeous blooms.
Chef Cordelia designed the perfect menu for the evening:
To nibble- Pita & man'oushe served with hummus & babbaghanoush
Then- Israeli salad with chopped romaine, tomato, Persian cucumber, red onion, parsley, mint, lemon, evoo
Next- Toasted Israeli couscous grilled seasonal vegetable with herbs and olive oil chicken schnitzel cutlet and beef brisket
Finally- a three-tiered wedding cake by Frost It Cakery.
Throughout the night guests were entertained by the sounds of Elite Disc Jockeys, a live painter and a photo booth by Open Air Photobooth. The evening was beyond magical and was filled with intimate first dances, the horrah and a sweet first dance with the Groom and bride's daughter- Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce
