Palm Springs Southwestern Inspired Wedding

Boho chic wedding couple with feathers and golden skull

This beautiful wedding in sunny Palm Springs had a distinct southwestern charm. Cacti, bright colors, and feathers were the norm. The cute couple and a small group of their closest friends and family spent the day laughing on the warm sand and finished the night with a playful party in the pool at a place they rented out. We are super in love with this Palm Springs Southwestern inspired wedding.

From the Bride:After helping my sister, Jenna, plan her beautiful wedding, I became excited about what my wedding to my then fiancé, Josh, would be like. Josh and I knew that we wanted to have an inexpensive wedding because in March, 2013 we paid off my student loans and became completely debt free. No mortgage, financed car, or consumer debt! The excitement and freedom this created made us realize that our wedding would have to line up with our vision to remain debt free and live a life of delayed gratification. With a detailed budget from my Dutch fiancé, I went about planning our day!

Knowing we wanted a small wedding I looked online for vacation rentals and came across Desert Ridge Estate. This beautiful home that sleeps 30 people looked perfect and the location, Palm Springs, CA, was the perfect backdrop for my South Western/Navajo decor ideas. My sister, mother, and I made all of the decor and had fun being crafty! The dream catchers, painted feathers, bunting, painted rocks, table runners and centerpieces were all handmade and the arch that we got married in front of was built by my dad when we arrived down in Palm Springs. I am very thankful for my crafty, hands-on family because, being from Canada, everything had to be made before-hand and packed up for our flight to Palm Springs.

Have your wedding catered by Rubio’s!
This has to be the best idea ever. Who does not love burritos, taquitos, and tacos. You can choose from a variety of Rubio's favorites, they even have a signature salsa bar... And if you're planning a party for kids, they have a quesadilla platter and taquitos platter for the kiddos. This is even a great option for a rehearsal dinner or just because. Yay Mexican fiesta!

When we arrived to Desert Ridge Estate with all of our immediate family and close friends, we were so thankful for the intimate, loving vibe that our wedding would have. The most important part to us was spending time with loved ones and letting them all know how much we appreciated everything they did to help us prepare for that day. Our family and friends had an amazing time enjoying the heat, fishing in the private lake, and playing in the pool at Desert Ridge Estate and we cannot wait to stay at the property again someday and reminisce about our incredible wedding day!For all you fun loving brides, don't be afraid to get your toes wet. If your venue has a pool you might as well put it to good use! It's the perfect way to cool off a bit after a warm day in your wedding gown and you and your guests are bound to have a blast.
