Let’s Have The Prettiest Little Elopement In The South Of France

Pinch me, I think I'm dreaming this gorgeous little elopement wedding inspiration. No way this perfect location exists in real life, with its picturesque gardens filled with Hollywood movie, golden lighting. Oh, but it is a real place and it just happens to be in the heavenly environment of Southwest France.

From Wonderlust Events

This ethereal elopement takes place at Château de Redon in the heart of the Dordogne region in Southwest France. Our gorgeous couple chose this setting for their intimate celebration, based on their love for France and the beautiful grounds at Château de Redon.

In keeping with the vision of an ethereal elopement story, we wanted the styling to be very soft, pale, and almost dreamlike. This gave the images we created a romantic & organic feel with a tiny bit of a modern edge, reflecting our couple’s modern personal style.

Using whites, neutrals, and just the palest hints of spring colour, we played with the idea of translucence and transparency, reinforcing the idea of floating and being lighter than air. From the flowers, the cake to the dress, the idea was for everything to look as though it might just drift away if it weren't tied down.

The Couple and Ceremony

Our bride wore “Carla” by Made with Love at Coco & Kate. A pale nude colour and very delicate, this breath-taking dress matched gorgeous handmade headpieces by Clare Lloyd, beautifully. With soft hair and makeup by Claire Jones, our bride looked effortlessly elegant.

Making the most of the incredible setting at Château de Redon, our couple chose to have an outdoor ceremony beneath the trees. Faith from Le Coeur Sauvage created a stunning floral installation as a backdrop, suspended from the tree branches overhead. We wanted to add a bit of movement to the standard flower cloud, so her installation looked like it was trying to float upwards and away. Transparent ghost chairs with flowering branches and candles floating inside glass cylinders kept the overall ceremony feel light and airy, but also added a modern edge.

The Reception

For our couple’s intimate outdoor wedding table, we chose to create a 'floating' floral garland as a centrepiece, hovering just above the tabletop. To highlight the floating florals, the rest of the tablescape was kept relatively minimal. Delicate glassware from Le Petit Pichet and place settings on translucent alabaster chargers complemented the calligraphed linen napkins beautifully. Clean-lined modern cutlery in soft matte gold added a touch of warmth to the mostly white tablescape. As the sunset over the Château, the golden cutlery glimmered in the sunlight, reinforcing the otherworldly feel of this magical setting.

Instead of just one wedding cake, our couple chose to have multiple smaller cakes, ranging in size and flavour. Steph The Cake Lady created various cake designs, all delicate and modern, echoing the overall dreamlike theme of the day. In keeping with the light and airy feel of the tablescape and ceremony setting, the cakes were arranged on plinths of varying heights, beneath a blossom tree in the grounds of Redon.

As the sun set over Château de Redon, our couple made the most of their golden hour couple portraits. The day had been perfect from start to finish, and after enjoying a romantic cocktail against the chateau backdrop, our couple joined guests for their candlelit wedding meal.
