All In The Family

From the Bride: David and I designed our wedding a bit differently than most couples, I'd imagine. Our greatest goal was to keep everything as family-oriented as possible. The wedding party was only made up of family, my uncle married us, and only a few closest family members walked down the aisle ahead of us. David actually walked me down the aisle, which certainly surprised some traditionalists. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ease up on Micromanaging

My wedding dress happened to be the very first one that I tried on, and David and I chose the first venue we saw. The wedding colors were picked by my sisters and bridesmaids! They were the ones wearing the dresses, so I wanted them to decide. I also gave the reigns over to my amazing florist -- I only asked that the flowers fit the wedding's color scheme, be somewhat rustic, and not look uniform.

Just Have Fun & Boogie

My biggest advice would really be to remember to have fun. There were all kinds of things that went wrong the day of our wedding, but in the end we were just so happy to be getting married and to spend time with our family and friends that none of it mattered.

Second piece of advice- dance as much as you can! When you plan a schedule down to the last minute you really lose a lot of that fun time that everyone enjoys and remembers the most.
