Ethereal St. Augustine Wedding Photoshoot Cloudy Day Magic
Everyone dreams of the perfect sunny day for their wedding, but that's not always the ideal lighting–just ask any photographer. When this team of wedding pros saw the clouds rolling in for their beachy photo shoot in St. Augustine, they didn't panic, they went along as planned and the photos couldn't have turned out any better! The clouds actually diffuse the light, giving everything that airbrushed glowy look. So, when you wake up on your big day and see a few clouds coming your way, thank your lucky stars because your photos are going to be #goals!
Ever After Editorials organized this shoot to show that a non-traditional wedding doesn't have to be edgy. Thinking outside the box can be just as ethereal and romantic as a timeless design. Fleurs De Vedra created these lovely pastel floral arrangements that pull in the colors from the historical city as well as the cool tones from the beach. A MODERN TAKE ON A HISTORICAL CITY
As one-half of the styled shoot planning team, Ever After Editorials, I helped create and design the concept for this beautifully romantic bridal portrait inspirational editorial. Our focus was the way light was captured in the smaller details, while highlighting the non-traditional bride, Stephanie, in a romantic and timeless way by styling her in a pink dress. While the day of the shoot was overcast, the sun peeked out enough to play and gave us some gorgeous portraits. Our inspiration for our collaborating vendors was pastel and muted pinks with warm browns to match the backdrop to the portraits. Even with a focus on an old-world style to go with the historical city, we still kept everything modern and elegant.
THE DREAM TEAM
There are so many little details that made this shoot. A floating sweetheart table put together by Ever After Editorials, beautiful hair and makeup by Beyond A Salon, gorgeous florals by Fleurs De Vedra, handwritten calligraphy on a scarf that matched the cape veil, and custom stationery with an illustration combining the historical parts of St. Augustine by Glory Co. Design, a hand-painted rosé wine bottle by A Brush Away, handmade jewelry by Blushing Gold Brides, custom nails by Diana, and more. Our goal was to create beautiful inspirational images for the bride who wants to be non-traditional without sacrificing the romantic element of her portraits.
SOME TIPS FROM THE PRO
1. Embrace the weather. I was hoping for a gorgeous golden hour, but instead, we had a very overcast day. It worked out to our benefit though, and we still found spots of light that brought our vision to life.
2. St. Augustine is a very busy city. Be ready to find places hidden away from the crowd so it looks like you had the place all to yourself.
3. Have fun with it! Planning any wedding is incredibly stressful, but it's your special day. Kick back, relax, and ask for help if you need it.
