moody winter wedding

From Evergreen Events Co.: This styled shoot was inspired by colors that bring warmth to a winter wedding. Perched on the scenic bends of the James River, the grounds at Upper Shirley Vineyards gave the shoot the sultry vibe we were looking to achieve. My vision for this shoot originated when dreaming of a table layered with velvet in various jewel tones; piled high with florals and tapered candles. This table was brought to life with the help of Kathryn Tawes Interiors’ brilliant floral design and her use of an accent rose. This accent brought to fruition the silk, crimson twirled napkins bound with a fresh Dusty Miller foliole.

contrasting bridal looks

When choosing the look for the bride, I wanted to showcase contrasting looks, so I chose traditional and non-traditional gowns. The white gown was a simple halter by Badgley Mischka, which we paired with a glamorous faux fur shawl. The black gown was off-the-shoulder with a dramatic jersey cape by Nicole Miller. Our female model beautifully personified a winter’s rose in both gowns with her bold red lip to balance her dark, romantic features. Both gowns were procured from Rent the Runway. Overall my goal for this shoot was to bring together young, naturally talented vendors in the Richmond, VA area to showcase their talents and help bring this moody shoot to life in the dead of chilly winter.
