The Inspiration

Inspired by velvet and a whole lot of love, this concept was gold. Captured mostly on film by Kendra Cates Photography, Couture Events highlighted gold velvet, mauves, a little bit of mod, and a whole lot of modern in the sun-kissed venue, Rancho Valencia.

While weddings in 2020 have been unknown, romance has never been more sure. As we look to 2021 we are seeing that instead of large weddings, many are opting for elopements or mini-weddings. We are loving this trend as you can lavish your guests (since there are fewer of them). Might as well go ALL OUT!

Luxe oversized velvet invitations by Kara Anne Paper make a wonderful first impression of what the guests can expect on the day. For the ceremony, velvet seating provided by To Be Designed San Diego and wood lattice was flooded with florals from Posies Floral Co.

Our bride's natural beauty was highlighted by Twirly Shears and Kg Hair & Makeup. Her gown was a romantic Hayley Paige also swimming in florals and accented with bows (velvet bow earrings to be exact). The stunning accessories by Lindsay Marie Design and Shel Couture brought the look over the top, and the always amazing Bella Belle heels brought it all together.

The cake, cupcakes, and cookies were beautifully created by Wednesday Cake. Our groom loves chocolate and we created an entire lounge around this love for all things cocoa and delicious. His dapper velvet attire from Friar Tux paired perfectly with the dripping candlelight on the colorful tabletop. It was a blend of mustard, terra-cotta, mauves, and blush, covered in greenery, raffia lamps, and pompous grass.
