This wedding was so much fun because the bride is a wedding planner with a rentals and decor, bar, florals, and calligraphy business in Culpeper, VA. She did all the designing and planning leading up and then handed off the details to a day of coordinator to pull it all together so she could relax with her family. Most of the décor came from her showroom. She spent a year carefully curating her favorite group of vendors who were absolute rockstars on the big day!
Ian’s family booked Spotswood Lodge for his family to stay at for the weekend and Jes booked Boxwood Villa for her family and bridesmaids. Both were the perfect backdrops for getting ready. Wise Films absolutely killed it making it to all three locations to capture the coolest videos from start to finish. Their talent is out of this world. Kristen Camielle Photography has shot all Jes’s company shoots so having her there for this day felt like having a best friend and family capturing one of their biggest life moments. Her vibe is immaculate.
Jes's mom, Morie, is the floral designer for Bride and Joy so Leroy French Flowers graciously allowed her to design and create Jes's bridal bouquet as well as the boutonnieres for the groom and Father of the Bride. It was so special for Jes to carry a bouquet made by her mom.
The ceremony was centered around the GORGEOUS tree in the Half Moon Garden. Ian was the one to choose the ceremony location (since Grelen has multiple options) and wanted this spot because it felt cozy and intimate. Leroy French Flowers lined the aisles with stunning ground arrangements. A flower petal bar was nearby for guests to gather petals to throw when the bride and groom walked back down the aisle. The ceremony was officiated by Mike who is like a second dad and good friend of both the bride and groom. They wrote their own vows and were NOT expecting their guests to feel so emotionally connected. They got so many sweet words after the wedding about how special the vows were.
Guests then made their way to the clear top tent. At the entrance, two walls held mini apothecary bottles with a shot to get the party started. When Jes and Ian sent out their invitations, they had their guests check whether they wanted their shot with or without alcohol. After finding the bottle with their name and table number, guests found their seats.
Each table “number” was a photo and location that Jes and Ian had visited together. Jes felt like numbering the tables sometimes makes guests feel bad if they’re the last table so labeling them with locations made everyone feel special! The couple chose a family-style meal to encourage the sharing and breaking of bread. Ian and Jes didn’t want to do a traditional cake cutting so instead they had homemade ice cream served by Market at Grelen as well as churros from Classic Catering.
