To their surprise, Talia and Michael bonded over their love of Lake Tahoe, travel, the outdoors, and economic theory, after meeting for their first date. During the pandemic, without the ability to go out for a traditional coffee date or dinner, Michael suggested they stash a bottle of champagne in their packs and head out for the Folsom Lake hiking trail in California (which was closed at the time!) It was then that Talia knew Michael was her perfect match. During a family conversation, Talia and Michael booked a spontaneous trip to Maui to tag along with their family. With happy tears in her eyes, Talia said yes, as Michael proposed on her birthday in front of their favorite restaurant on the island.

With a burst of dainty flourishes and florals, Talia and Michael’s destination wedding on Maui leaned into the natural beauty of the island, perfectly accompanied by earthy, mid-century modern flair. Hosted at Hotel Wailea, the property was perfectly scenic as it offered grand palm trees and budding plants along the jungle floor.

Talia wore a striking gown by Galia Lahav, with their signature fitted silhouette, a deep plunging neckline, and a lovely beaded motif. To complement Talia’s nude-lined gown, Michael wore a custom light-linen suit, and bridesmaids donned midi-length sage green dresses with ruffled details.

Their ceremony location was surrounded by the lush greenery of the property, and guests sat on long wooden benches facing a simple wooden altar. A theme of delicate botanicals by Bella Bloom touched the aisle as well as the altar in a color story of creams, blushes, and ivories.

They created an elegant outdoor reception beneath a clear tent, where wooden beams were strung with greenery and mid-century modern glass chandeliers. Modern outdoor lounges were set for guests with a living room feel, including a framed art wall that included their seating chart. This rustic-meets-modern space was filled with natural textures of wood, teak, and raffia furniture and earthy ceramic pottery and plates. Moving to the sunset lawn, the reception was complete with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui Mountains. In true jungle fashion, the couple even snapped photos in the rainbow of a post-rainstorm mist.
