French toile-inspired wedding at the buffalo history museum

bride and groom on museum steps

We could go on and on about the historic venue, the modern yet completely timeless gown, the toile-painted desserts (PLURAL), but the larger-than-life flowers have to be our absolute favorite part about this colorful wedding. First off, we love that this couple didn't shy away from color, they dove in head first and let the team at EVL Events work their magic. And it's hard to say if there's something in the water or if Beck & Forth is simply, that good because are these the most gigantic peonies you've ever seen, or what?! You absolutely don't want to miss any of these details or these incredible photos by Katia Popik Photography, so keep scrolling...

Harry led Christine to believe that they were attending a work party in order to plan the perfect surprise engagement. Upon leaving for the event, Christine found that Harry had made a private reservation at a swanky New York restaurant instead. Harry proposed to Christine in the restaurant’s private room, complete with a view that overlooked the city. Dinner was accompanied by both of their families which Harry had arranged to secretly fly into town. Afterward, they unraveled the night at a bar in the West Village with their closest friends.

a historic venue-literally

wedding at a museum

Inspired by motifs of French toile and chinoiserie, Christine and Harry’s wedding captured a collage of lofty patterns and elevated state of mind. Hosted at the Buffalo History Museum, this historic landmark provided its iconic architecture for a sophisticated wedding day backdrop. It was important for Christine to share the beauty of the city in which she grew up. She loved how the museum was not only surrounded by the iconic Japanese Garden but it included open exhibits for guests to learn more about the couple’s beloved city. The couple’s first look was shot along the building’s portico, where grand columns evoked an elegant mood.
