Anjali and Porus met later in life after both believing they would never find 'the one.' Anjali started planning the wedding during 2020 when she was unable to leave India (with Porus unable to leave London). When they were able, they said 'I do' in a civil ceremony in the UK, but it took until 2022 for them to feel comfortable bringing their families from all over the world to Italy for a destination wedding. As they were already legally married, their vision was to bring all of their friends and family together to have a colorful, fun celebration. Gabriele Fani was there to capture every detail of this celebration at Il Borro in the heart of Tuscan wine country featuring rustic details and pops of bold color thanks to planning and design assistance by Elegante by Michelle J.
Anjali never intended to be a traditional bride, as demonstrated by her choice of a short, sparkly Nadine Merabi dress and bright shoes by Michael Kors (for the ceremony) and Jimmy Choo (for the reception). Porus wore Anjali's late father's shoes as a way of feeling as though he was with them at the wedding.
All guests stayed on site at Il Borro - most in the Medieval Village, with their closest family and friends joining Anjali and Porus in the Historic Villa where the wedding dinner was also hosted. Prior to the ceremony, the wedding planning team delivered miniature bottles of spirits with mixers and cigars for guests to enjoy while they were getting ready to attend the wedding.
For their wedding celebration at Il Borro, Anjali and Porus worked with Katie Keen of True Blue Ceremonies to write a bespoke, symbolic ceremony script that was personal to them. Each of them wrote their own vows that were kept secret from each other until they read them at the ceremony. Anajli's brother, Neeraj, also officiated on the day, making it that much more personal.
Il Giardino delle Fate Flower Design used lots of rich red and pink tones in the florals, which was echoed throughout the ceremony and table decor. Candlelight and fairy lighting created a cozy, romantic atmosphere at the dinner table. As the night fell, the effect was stunning as the setting was lit up with the villa as the backdrop, and the historic Borgo sprawed in front of them.
Galateo Ricevimenti provided classic Italian aperitif drinks and finger foods for the reception after the ceremony, followed by delicious Italian courses. Because Anjali is a trained chef, she was very keen to curate a wedding day menu that was paired with Il Borro's own wines, so guests were treated to a selection of wines throughout the meal.
Dessert featured a classic Italian millefoglie wedding cake by Galateo Ricevimenti. However, instead of the usual wedding cake show, the caterers were asked to serve the cake on platters at the tables with sparklers announcing the arrival of each platter.
