Choosing a charming town in Tuscany
When choosing a wedding destination, finding a location that matches your wedding vision and goals can be a challenge! This shoot makes choosing Italy easy, through stunning captures by David Abel Photography. Volterra is an especially charming town situated within medieval history in the province of Pisa (in close proximity to Florence).
The world’s alabaster capital is complete with a Romanesque chapel (with vibrant green doors), cypress-lined roads and endless, jaw-dropping views of rolling Tuscan hills - it is one of the most picturesque towns in Italy!
Ethereal Claire Pettibone wedding gowns
Bride and groom models Daphne and Samuele radiated the timeless aesthetic of the region, styled in romantic and ethereal fashion. The bride wore two gowns, including the
palatial Soleil gown by Claire Pettibone embellished with intricate French embroidered tulle, sprinkled with glistening sparkles!
"Outside the town walls, we explored the sacred Badia, or ancient Abbey, where a Romeo and Juliet-like photo op took place with illustrious captures that expertly documented the medieval castle meets Italian countryside style. This venue requires council approval but is available for rental!"
The dreamy bridal look was highlighted with an ethereal cathedral veil, beauty by Rogue Styling, and ornate gold headpiece by Eden Luxe Bridal. She completed the look with an oversized bouquet of peonies, roses, ranunculus, and greenery designed by Barefoot Floral.

The second bridal look featured the April wedding gown from Claire Pettibone, adorned with floral appliques and a romantic mermaid silhouette featuring a plunging neckline.
Rustic outdoor ceremony with fashion to match
For the ceremony, the team created an elegant, timeless, romantic, and classic look designed by White Sage Wedding & Events that embodied the ambiance of the rustic venue. The wedding attire were intentional to the scene as well. The groom’s light blue suit complimented the surroundings of the muted and cream-colored ceremony location overlooking the side of the villa; the lush lace and floral motifs of the bride's gown stood in contrast against the roughness of the stone and ruins.
The floral installation by Barefoot Floral stretched across the ceremony walls to create an uneven and rustic look that complimented the square-shaped structure of the altar.

Casual Italian chic weekend attire
A mid-afternoon break for lifestyle shooting included exploring the streets of Volterra by Vespa. The couple relaxed into casual attire and enjoyed a cappuccino in a cafe followed by pizza and gelato in the town square.
The beauty of a destination like Volterra is that it's perfect to accommodate weddings of all sizes - whether you're dreaming of an elopement, micro wedding, or full-hosted weekend. The local activities and scenery will keep you and your guests celebrating for your entire trip!
Upon returning to the Villa a siesta was much needed but a tranquil dip in the pool breathed life back into the evening!
Portrait opportunities as far as the eye can see
The editorial team spent from dawn to afternoon in and around Volterra for bride and groom portraits. With so much to offer, the vibe enhanced romantic sultry dreamy out of this world and fantasy-like locations in and around Volterra!
Inside the town walls, the couple celebrated their love with stunning three-dimensional views of the Tuscan hills for as far as the eye can see. These rolling hill backdrops are almost as breathtaking as the bride’s ethereal princess look!
A reception that warranted not one, but two tablescapes
Villa Capanne offers so many options for locations to host a reception, that the vendor team could not choose just one backdrop or table aesthetic! The intimate olive orchard and the garden lawn with a view of the Tuscan countryside became the inspiration for two juxtaposing tablescapes.
Nestled down a row of olive trees, a raw wooden table adorned with authentic ornate dishware and pillared candles brought an old world effect and effortless ambiance. The glowing light of the overhanging chandelier adorned with abundant olive greens hugged the frame completing the classic Italian tablescape. Decor and rentals for the reception scenes were provided by Allegoria Textiles, Preludio Divisione Noleggio, and Otis + Pearl.
If you can't choose between all the gorgeous spaces available - perhaps you could utilize each space for a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, or farewell brunch!
The wedding meal by Giovannini Enterprises was inspired by the famous local Volterra decorative alabaster, a soft, almost translucent precious mineral that resembles marble.
Alabaster napkin rings and delicate bowls lead the table's narrative to a modern white and floral forward table - featuring locally foraged spring blooms arranged in mono-varietal arrangements by Barefoot Floral. Touches of gold enhanced this classic color story, as ethereal butterfly ranunculus blooms floated down the table as candlelight danced in the blue hour glow. Delicate handmade paper calligraphy place cards and menus from Epoch Design perfected the elevated reception!
Floral-adorned getaway Fiat
There's no better way to end a fairytale Italian wedding than with a chic, vintage Fiat getaway car! Rent A Car Pazzagli Volterra provided the afternoon's fabulous Vespa as well as this floral-adorned ride.
