This elegant Thousand Oaks wedding was a baby’s breath master class
Kaitlin and Brendan said "I do" in September of 2023 after 7 years together. Their wedding at Los Robles Greens was the perfect celebration after their intimate, self-officiated ceremony in Washington D.C. with their parents and their pug (Oliver) back in December of 2021. The Los Robles Greens event was elegant and personal, from the vows that had everyone laughing, to their adorable baby son Houston who was a fan favorite (obviously)! They couldn't have done without the assistance of Cynthia Wennberg, as well as Alexandra Wallace Photography there to capture every moment. What made this day even more special? The bride was pregnant with the couple's second child! Keep scrolling to see how this wedding day, a long time in the making, came to fruition in a beautiful way.
Timeless Grace Loves Lace bridal style
For her wedding day, Kaitlin wore a dress and veil courtesy of Grace Loves Lace. She chose the Martini wedding dress - a timeless, sleeveless gown that exudes elegance - and the Frederike veil that added extra special lace detail for her overall look.
Ways to use engagement photos at the wedding
Guests were welcomed with a unique, custom welcome sign created from one of the couple's favorite engagement shoot photos. It gave elegant retro vibes with the use of black and white photography.
The perfect bridesmaid dress color
Choosing to have her bridesmaids wear black dresses in a variety of styles was the perfect option for Kaitlin. The black color was perfect for creating a timeless and elegant look. It upheld its status as a universally flattering color and popped perfectly against the baby's breath bouquets and boas by Diane Carvotta.
The flower boy (a.k.a. the star of the show!)
A favorite part of the wedding ceremony was that the bridesmaids all walked down pulling the couple's son Houston (the honorary flower boy) in a wagon filled with white rose petals. The bridesmaids were all his aunts, so it was the perfect family moment to kick off this meaningful ceremony!
Baby's breath for everything, including boas
The couple fell in love with the Gardens at Los Robles Greens for their venue due to its well-thought-out floor plan for both the reception and ceremony, as well as its all-inclusive option. For their ceremony, decor centered around baby's breath bouquets (with a few white roses mixed in), boas, arrangements, and columns, creating an airy yet elegant atmosphere. Another element that helped make their photos even more streamlined and elegant? Asking their guests to follow an all-black dress code!
An all-inclusive venue and some cost-saving tips
Los Robles Greens handled all of the catering and provided help with all of the additional rental upgrades including chairs, glassware, plates, linens, heaters, and a dance floor. Kaitlin and Brendan chose to upgrade to a classic black and white checkerboard floor for the guests to dance the night away on! While they didn't have any DIY projects for their special day, the couple highly recommended using Zazzle, Amazon, Aliexpress, Etsy, and borrowing any decor possible to help make the wedding day as cost effective as possible.
A thank you note at every place-setting
The couple kept the tablescapes clean with baby's breath centerpieces and a single white candle, black plates to tie in the black and white color scheme, and a thank you note on every plate tucked into the linens. A black and white checkerboard dance floor and a late-night breakfast burrito snack made for a fun latter half of the evening, while the couple made sure to grab a memory with every guest by taking a photo with each table.
Four tiers is an opportunity for four flavors
The couple's cake was by Heather Guay of Frances Baking, a home baker in Santa Barbara, and consisted of four tiers with Chantilly icing on every tier. The flavors for each of the tiers were dark chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fresh berries, earl gray with lemon curd, vanilla cake passion fruit curd with vanilla pastry cream, and matcha lemon mousse with raspberries.
How to make a "Pug-jito"
The couple's pug, Oliver, had to leave after the ceremony so the best way to celebrate him throughout the night was with their signature drink the Pug-jito (served as a regular cocktail or a mocktail). The drink consisted of passion fruit, white rum, lime juice, sugar, mint, and soda water.
