Getting married at an art gallery has a lot of bonuses, but one thing that’s tricky in the planning is potentially not having a clue what the exhibition at the gallery will be when your wedding day comes around. Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Eckhardt Hall is an incredible, modern space with stunning Tyndall stone walls. Just a few weeks before Katelin and Derek's wedding, the WAG changed their exhibit to a vibrant, joyful collection of paintings entitled “Color Therapy.” It turned the walls of Eckhardt Hall into playful, abstract walls of color focused on bringing the outdoor vibrancy of the summer months right into the gallery. Keep scrolling to see how Katelin and Derek - with the help of Soiree Event Planning - used that exhibit to their benefit for a gorgeous wedding day.
The exhibits focus worked perfectly for the couple and their florist Stone House Creative, as Katelin and Derek didn’t have a lot of “must-haves” but knew they wanted color. Stone House Creative started with peaches and lavenders, layering in a pop of juicy orange and a lot of soft pinks as the “neutral” base.
The couple hosted their ceremony on a rooftop in downtown Winnipeg that boasted a beautiful view. The same colorful floral design that guests would encounter at the wedding were also a part of the floral towers used at the ceremony. Katelin wore a romantic dress courtesy of Allure Bridals, complemented by a natural glam bridal look by Your Taylored Hair and Bailey DelBigio.
At the reception, some of the most memorable moments included a serenade to the bride from her dad and an amazing dance party thanks to DJ Sir Charles and fueled by catering courtesy of Wow Hospitality Concepts. Rentals from both Planned Perfectly and Collective Event Rentals created a timeless look featuring a neutral backdrop that assisted in making the muted summer colors and contemporary artwork pop.
