This is what a Rhode Island Michelin star wedding looks like
Luxmi and Jenagan met as most modern couples do - through a dating app! On their first date, they learned that not only were they from the same Sri Lankan region, but their mothers had been raised in the same tiny Sri Lankan village. It was hard not to believe that it was meant to be! Jenagan and Luxmi decided that they wanted both a traditional Tamil wedding ceremony and a Western-influenced reception for their incredibly special day, and planner Hummingbird Events and Design was ready to deliver. How to kick off an amazing wedding weekend
The couple kicked off the weekend's events with a henna party courtesy of Henna by Ruhi. The next morning - a.k.a. their wedding day! - Jenagan started his day with a series of blessings and rituals meant to prepare him for the ceremony, as Luxmi was tended to by a team of stylists and dress experts who helped move her through wearing two traditional ceremony dresses and a more party-centric reception gown. Breakfast and lunch were created from scratch for all of the guests by a team from "The Quilon" who was flown in from the Michelin-starred restaurant for the occasion. Based in London, "The Quilon" hails itself as the top Indian restaurant in the city.
Shade options that aren't umbrellas
At the ceremony, colored scarves were draped over the aisle to offer shade for guests as they sipped fresh lemonade and iced tea throughout the morning. Four Tamil musicians played to a crescendo as the Sri Lankan priest shared the final blessings under a manavarai of thousands of fresh flowers shipped in from four different countries. OLuxe Designs brought both wedding styles to life through incredible, colorful floral design.

Turning a colorful ceremony into a black-tie reception
After a brief respite following the ceremony, guests reconvened for a black-tie cocktail hour and dinner from Blackstone Catering, the exclusive caterers for Shepherd's Run Winery. Escort cards featured small bundles of woven blooms while the aroma of overhead floral installations perfumed the air. Guests danced the night away under bamboo lanterns hand-crafted from Design Light, while OLuxe Designs outdid themselves in covering every inch of the tent in aromatic florals representative of the couple's cultural blooms and traditional colors, including saffron, cinnamon, lavender, and fresh greens. It was truly a day (and weekend!) to remember.
Custom cake toppers for (colorful) custom cakes
The wedding wouldn't have been complete without a stunning custom cake complete with a custom bride and groom cake topper. The cake's colors were a nod to the colorful, traditional Sri Lankan ceremony and perfectly complemented the floral design throughout the rest of the reception.
