Luxury isn't any one specific thing - it's something you can feel, and when you see it, you know. The Arc Light Venue in Oregon City, Oregon is a historic building with a brand new facelift. Owner Ashley Baldwin’s vision was to bring a modern take to the old charm of this building, mixing modern architecture with the alluring characteristics of what once was. This elegant wedding editorial is a must-see for those yearning for a colorful, floral-filled trip down memory lane.

This venue is new, but the owner is familiar with weddings, as she and her family own Hive Social downstairs - a restaurant buzzing with excellent food and positive energy. When owner Ashley Baldwin approached Jodi Iverson, owner of Jodi Iverson Florals, to potentially stage a shoot in her brand new space, the stars aligned. Jodi reached out to Rithy Tamba of RT Faith Photography, and Ashley Lachney of Alston Mayger Events to schedule a site visit and explore.
When they arrived, the space was still under construction, but it was evident to all three creatives that this venue was going to be one of the most beautiful openings that any of them had seen. Ashley of Alston Mayger Events tapped the likes of The Party Place PDX, Letters and Dust, Sewell Sweets, Ania Bridal, Stitch and Tie, and Olivia Hawthorne Beauty to collaborate on what was sure to be a spectacular day. Anh Dinh Films also graciously collaborated on the video front.
The main event space at The Arc Light features floor to ceiling white walls, exquisite chandeliers and finishes, wainscoting, and a stunning oak floor that is completely en vogue. One of the main points that both Jodi and Ashley wanted to focus on was doing the space justice with its electrifying and sophisticated design. "We chose to stage the space with round tables to give it a classic ballroom feel, but keep very modern finishes on all of the rentals," Ashley Lachney said. "The main ceremony arch as well as the shape of the florals gave a nod to a more modern element too, so we had this perfect blend of classic meets contemporary, which honors the entire vibe of the space."
Brittany of Letters and Dust jumped in with both feet on this collaboration, planning an entire seating chart to match the walls of the venue, menus for each place setting, and a full invitation suite within the color palette. Jodi chose the color palette to reflect vibrancy and warmth with the use of terra cotta paired with lilac. Soft pink and bright pops of coral with honey tones help round out the mix. The combination of modern and classic will always be timeless. Jodi wanted the actual design to be modern but by using a wide range of garden flowers, it helped to create a classic and vintage vibe. "The colors remind me of a vintage color palette that was also grown in my Grandmother's flower garden that will always be a favorite of mine,” Jodi reminisced.

When it came to photography, Rithy immediately fell in love with the uniqueness of each suite for the couple. One filled with ample light and space, perfect for the wedding party to lodge and celebrate. The other sets the mood with high ceilings, dark wainscotting, and caramel leather seating. The highlight from this room is the 150 year old billiard table, and also includes an oversized dressing mirror and wet bar. “Seeing this venue in its true form made my wedding photographer heart explode. The details and thought put into the design was perfect. I can’t imagine anyone not loving this space.”
Alexis wore a Pronovias gown in style "Aethra" courtesy of Ania Bridal. "We really wanted something that spoke to the trend of 3-D floral appliqués that we've been seeing throughout fashion week on bridal gowns. We wanted to shoot to be very floral-heavy, and this dress checked all of the boxes for us." Rithy said. Equal parts glam and timeless, and with a fit that none of the shoot participants could believe wasn't altered, Alexis joked several times that the dress would be coming home with her.
Catherine of Sewell Sweets even based the appliqué on the cake off of the gown that Alexis wore, and it was a masterpiece. The end result was stunning, and everyone felt a true sense of honor to be considered as one of the first to come into the space and style it for an event worthy of all the recognition.
