This is one of my favorite weddings that we have done with Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images! I showed off the shoes first - as I have always adored them and have never been able to find another pair just for me!
Avalon Caterers did an outstanding job with the catering and set-up at the GW River Farm in Virginia. The bride's Persian heritage made for a wonderful and exciting day for me and the guests. The couple had two ceremonies with a blending of traditions from Iran, The United States and Thailand. Thailand was where the groom was working at the time and he wanted to incorporate a few traditions from Thailand into the "Western" ceremony.
We created floral designs in rich burgundy tones with white and green accents. After the western ceremony, ceremony #2 was set to begin! Here we have the sofreh-ye agdh (or Persian Wedding Cloth) filled with wonderful Persian family heirlooms and keepsakes, fruits and several symbols of Persian marriage. One of the most important elements is the sharing of honey - to sweeten life in marriage. This is done immediately after the marriage ceremony is finished and the couple feeds the honey to one another with their fingers!
The night was filled with song, food and dance both from live musicians from MSE Productions (owned by the famous Miles Stiebel) and Evan Reitmeyer of MyDeejay.com. Debbie Delardi from Cakes by Design made the fantastic buttercream cake and we added a little dazzle to it with burgundy cymbidium orchids. The bride's mother brought delectable Persian goodies that everyone (including myself) nibbled on throughout the night. (How I love thee baklava!)
It was an affair full of romance and beauty!
Congratulations Ponneh & Scott!
Happy Wedding Planning!
