Cheers to you Brittney & Devin!
I (Chelsea Mead, Jewelry Designer, Proposal Planner, & Owner of Honey Designs Jewelry) had met Devin when he and his at the time girlfriend Brittney had modeled for a few styled shoots I was involved in years ago. They kept in touch with me through the years and I grew to love them as a couple and worked together on different photoshoots.
Devin approached me in the spring of 2020, ready to plan how he would propose to Brittney and began the ring designing process. Devin had also decided he would document the entire process for Brittney to see later. We worked together to design the perfect ring based on Brittney's preferences and he wanted a unique gemstone. We decided to design her ring with an Alexandrite, ultimately because their favorite colors are blues, greens, and purples and this amazing and rare precious gemstone has the color changing phenomena where it can be all of those colors.
We planned a surprise dinner proposal for them under the disguise of a date night at one of their favorite local spots in Columbus. Devin customized the experience with me as a proposal planner to the max and made it so special. At the beginning of the day, we did his final ring reveal. With a custom ring, my clients don't see the finished ring until completion. For Devin, this was a huge part of the process and he wanted to share it with his two brothers.
We also took a minute in the chaos of the day to pray over the whole proposal about to occur and bless their relationship, which was important to them. Fast forward a few hours to the proposal beginning. Shelby, Odessa James Photography, staged herself with flower petals in front of the restaurant and asked if they wanted to have their photo taken and then told Brittney how she'd just done pictures of a couple where they threw flower petals in motion and explained how cool it looked. So Brittney went to throw flower petals for a picture when Devin dropped down behind her. She was totally surprised and it was amazing. Immediately after the proposal, they walked to an alley next to the restaurant where my team and I set up a celebratory champagne spot for them, complete with lyrics to their favorite song, hand-lettered by Morgan of Honeybee Creative on silk panels.
Katie of Katie's Blooms designed the perfect custom floral proposal bouquet to complete their engagement experience. They celebrated alone for some pictures and then joined friends and family at Lindey's to celebrate for the evening. This was a really fun proposal, executed flawlessly, and had Devin's personal touch involved throughout. It's so important to have a professional proposal planner that understands the logistics of the process for a seamless and stress-free engagement experience.
