Liz & Connor's elegant, woodsy Catskill’s weekend wedding at Gather Greene prioritized a fun and unique guest experience at an old shale quarry nestled in the mountains. Because the couple ended up needing to reschedule their wedding due to COVID, they decided to change their color scheme from more moody tones to fresher pops of color to keep things fun and fresh. Greenery/Nature was always the anchor point for the design. In fact, one of the first design choices made was the mixture of green dresses for the bridesmaids to wear to reflect the textured foliage of the venue. The bride wore a gorgeous romantic and elegant Alexandra Grecco gown and veil, and shoes by Bella Belle. Her hair & makeup, by Campbell & Campbell & The Blushery, was styled naturally to match the scenery of the wedding, Velvet table linens by Latavola Linen mixed with minimalist wood chairs, classic gold flatware, and chargers provided by Events Unlimited Party Rentals with cheeky pink taper candles were all chosen with natural elegance in mind and perfectly planned by Corinne of Canvas Weddings.

The reception featured a lounge vignette by Kedeema Rentals for guests (and the couple) to enjoy their drinks, a cigar rolling station, live music by Atomic Funk Project, greenery strung from the installed string lights provided by LNJ Events, and the most incredible wow-factor part of the space—the floor to ceiling floral install wall by florist Dark & Diamond (if this doesn’t say LET'S CELEBRATE, what does?)

Guests ended the night with cocktails, late night bites, and a bonfire under the stars before retiring for the night to their wood & glass minimalist cabins. The couple’s goal was to give their guests the feeling like they were on a vacation with them, which is exactly why the couple decided that this party was also their honeymoon because, in their words, “What else could we want? This is perfect.” It was an unforgettable wedding that took the saying “go big or go home” and undoubtedly made it happen.

Some Words of Wisdom

1) Keep your guest experience at the top of the priority list when getting married somewhere in nature. Guests will feel like they themselves are on a vacation and not just at a wedding.

2) Be OK with nature being, well, nature. No one can control weather, and on this wedding day, the wind was a struggle, but learn to embrace that unpredictability and take it as a positive.

3) Keep your natural surroundings in mind when planning the different design elements of the day. You want to compliment your event's location and venue!
