How to Have a Romantic Winter Themed Wedding in the Rain
Emily and Daniel didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits on their wedding day, and we're loving every last bit of their gorgeous winter themed wedding at the stunning Ford Plantation in Georgia. Emily Burton Designs brought the brides vision of a southern winter wedding, and the grooms request for the color blue, together into one stylish day filled with must-see details.

When your wedding dreams come true
From Emily Burton Designs: Emily and Daniel had the wedding of their dreams, thanks to Event Planner and Designer, Emily Burton of Emily Burton Designs. Emily Turner dreamed of having a Southern Wedding with plantation vibes, while Daniel's only request was "using the color blue." Emily, the bride really wanted a sophisticated fete with a nod to winter, but wasn't willing to wait until December to marry the love of her life." With a keen eye and attention to details, Emily Burton balanced the refined feel of the Ford Plantation with the natural beauty of the sprawling estate.

Emily Burton created an alfresco chapel using a combination of chalk-painted white church pews, vintage folding chairs and an opulent arrangement of full white and blue blooms displayed on an antique desk. Oversized custom signage was flown in from out of state and referenced Emily and Daniel's custom monogrammed that was also created for her custom stationery. In lieu of traditional readings, the couple had a close friend read “Ethics of Journalism” (Emily is a TV reporter) and explains how they are easily applied to marriage.
Creating a swanky salon feel
Custom ordered Wicker light fixtures were hung and draped in fresh greenery, plush velvet blue linens gave a nod to the wintry vibes, vintage glassware and dusty-rose taper candles dotted the reception tent, making guests feel as though they had stepped into a swanky salon. “We even had a Ford Model-A on display as a nod to the man who once owned the property,” Emily says. Emily and Daniel's one request was to have their wedding and reception outside, so I knew to choose a clear tent that would allow the gorgeous marsh views, manicured grounds, and Spanish oak trees to shine through was the perfect backdrop for hosting the ceremony outdoors.

After the “I dos,” guests donned top hats, mustaches, parasols and other fun props for a festive second line parade. They sipped "liquid courage" and Daniel’s favorite, Moscow mules from classic copper mugs by the pool during cocktail hour, then joined the newlyweds in the elegant reception tent for dinner and dancing. As a decadent after-dinner treat, Leopold’s Ice cream cart was rolled into the tent—a Savannah staple—and offered up their favorite flavors to pair with blackberry cobbler.
