Kara and Mikes shabby chic wedding at the Bandy Canyon Ranch in San Diego is as charming as can be with it’s laid-back vibe and bright colors all around. The two love birds wanted their wedding to reflect all of their favorite things, so they incorporated items from each of their homes states and colleges in their festive decor.
A piñata guestbook and a Mariachi band added a festive touch in honor of the grooms Mexican heritage. It’s the ultimate shabby chic fiesta, and you’re invited to get a closer look at the entire day when you visit the full gallery here, beautifully captured by Stacy Bostrom Photography and Nicole Hershman Daniels Photography.
From When Pigs Fly Events: Kara and Mike make each other so happy and this happiness is easily contagious. You feel instant warmth and comfort when you are in their presence. It was an honor to plan their wedding. Both are Division 1 athletes (him, Idaho State Football and her, SDSU volleyball) so you can imagine their shared sense of camaraderie. They wanted guests to feel spirited joy and the love in the air.
A friend offered to bake cookies in the shape of Idaho and California which provided the perfect way to honor and share a part of their heart and home. Kara came to me with her color palette of blush, coral, and mint green which are perfect choices for a festive Spring day. The color palette really blossomed when we selected a couple of gorgeous Amy Butler fabrics to make custom drapes for the ceremony arbor and also linens at the reception. Leather fringe detailing added that rustic touch to the festive prints and dreamy laces. We also provided custom made napkins for the couple as a surprise that featured embroidered terms of endearment written in Spanish.
Peonies are Kara's favorite flower and so naturally we couldn’t wait to see the vibrant arrangements designed by Siren Floral Co set out to complement the assorted mix of brights and pastels around the wedding. To celebrate Mike’s Mexican heritage, a Mariachi band serenaded the cocktail hour. We also added mini piñatas to the kiddie station with crafts for entertainment. Their heart shaped piñata guestbook was also a gorgeous touch and featured a fun note letting guests know that they would bust the piñata on their anniversary to reveal the messages.
