Both Meredith and Damien were students of the Savannah College of Art and Design, so it stands to reason that they wanted their creative talents to shine in every detail, and they did! You'll be amazed at just how much of this wedding was DIY'd by this phenomenal couple.
A classic color scheme of black and white with splashes of mint really did make for a beautiful day, and it was all inspired by Damien's shoes!! There are so many fun details to this black, white, and mint wedding, don't miss a single one when you view the entire gallery here, captured by Jackie Osborne.
The theme of our wedding came from Damien's one request; to wear a pair of Retro Jordan's at our wedding. So after he picked out the 2013 released Jordan Retro 4 Green Glow shoes I stood in line the day they were released to snatch us each a pair. From there all of our colors were selected based on that shoe!
I am currently a university professor of fine art so anything that could be DIY I wanted to do! I made the wreaths, designed the mantel alter, cut photo booth props, made the personalized wire hangers, stacked and decorated the cake, all of the table runners, centerpieces, cut book initials, painted personalized corn hole boards, the flower girl pail, and the ring bearer palette. I designed our save the dates, invitations, and wedding newspaper programs. I could go on and on, you name it; I made it or collaborated with Damien if at all possible.
Damien is an animator so he created animated characters of each of us that we used on our wedding invitations and in our newspaper programs that I designed, printed, and hand stitched the seams. We had personalized fabrics with our logo and graphics printed through Spoonflower, and then I sewed the fabrics into bow ties and pocket squares for our entire family. We also had t-shirts and personalized socks printed with the same image using customizeelitesocks.com and the Wundershop.
