• Real Weddings

After meeting on Nantucket, Ashly and Scott eventually moved to the island and live there year-round, so there was never any question of where they would exchange vows. With the help of Ashly's cousin/best friend/Maid of Honor, Sarah Crawford of Valentine, this couple had the personal, classy beach wedding they had dreamt of. From Sarah Crawford of Valentine:Working with Chocolate Creative Design on everything from the save the dates to the hand-crafted wooden table numbers, was a key element in the event's identity. Ocean blue letterpress, fuchsia, and gold foil were used for all the paper goods. By incorporating both Scott's masculine and no frills persona with Ashly's more glamorous and feminine attributes, they planned the perfect "glambake" for their reception.

When they learned that Longwood Events was handling weddings at The Jetties venue, it seemed like the perfect fit. They set out to transform the rustic beach shanty into a beautiful spot for their reception, while keeping with the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The bride wore a stunning mermaid-style tulle Vera Wang gown and cathedral length veil. Petal Floral Design created flower crowns and "wands" for the flower girls, the bride's nieces, and flower crowns for the dogs.

They lucked out with an unseasonably warm October day and had a gorgeous ceremony on the beach, as the bride had always imagined. Ashly surprised Scott by walking down the aisle to an acoustic version of Van Morrison's "Tupelo Honey," a song they both cherish.From the Bride:Our wedding was on the most perfect October day we could have asked for! However, the ceremony was on the beach and it was a bit windy. The one thing I would have changed was to remove my veil during the ceremony. It was so long and the wind was blowing it all over. It was just so beautiful veil so at the time I really didn't want to take it off. Looking back, I would have removed it because it was distracting.

From Sarah Crawford of Valentine:After a touching and beautiful ceremony guests enjoyed cocktail hour under a sperry sailcloth tent and then retrieved their table assignments/"tickets" from the gold wooden trays of sea glass, set upon gold sparkly linens. The escort cards also served as the favor — admission to the iconic Nantucket destination, The Chicken Box, for the after-party.

Using vibrant deep pinks and ocean blues for colors, gold accents, and subtle seaside elements on their tablescape, a silk fuchsia napkins set against rustic burlap and a neutral backdrop of sands and khaki, they achieved the perfect balance. Gold flatware, gold-rimmed chargers and gold-painted seashells, including large scallop shells as candles, among other votives provided the right ambiance.

Petal Floral Design hand glittered urns with gold glitter to "glam" them up, then overflowed them with luscious blooms of deep pinks and fuchsias — and even included some whimsical feathers to match the bride's shoes! Custom-sewn monogrammed lobster bibs were gifted to the bride and groom and hung on their designated seats at the head table.
