This inspirational shoot delivers for couples who want a Spanish-style wedding. From the table runner to the bougainvillea draped wedding cake, and of course tequila shots ... we are IN love! Spanish Wedding Venue

With the opening of a brand new, stunning downtown San Jose venue, Bree Walker from Katherine Bree Walker Photography and Ashley from Til Death Weddings & Social Events couldn’t help but dream up a wedding in the freshly birthed space, Blanco Urban Venue.

While touring the new location, the very obvious Spanish-inspired aesthetic gave way to a vision of bold bougainvillea and patterned fabrics inspired by Spanish tile alongside warmer tones. The striking white walls served as an empty palette, giving us permission to create a look that would stand out using intense colors, a custom arch, and hot pink florals provided by Dubon Floral Design.

Micro Wedding + Actual proposal Goals

The idea is this: an intimate, micro wedding. No detail is left forgotten. The ceremony, while micro, is big, bold and adventurous like the couple, only to be followed by a Spanish-style meal. After, cocktails are served at the bar, and the guests are left to lounge on the rooftop overlooking the beautiful neighborhood of downtown San Jose.

While this particular photo shoot is staged, a very real moment occurred at the end of the shoot, when the model portraying the groom, Nathan, got down on one knee and asked his girlfriend, our bridal model, Carla, to be his real-life wife!

As mentioned previously, Blanco Urban Venue serves as a perfect canvas for wedding designers to work within. There are three floors of usable space; the massive downstairs great room, the second-floor mezzanine, and the rooftop terrace. We chose the second floor as a ceremony space.

It's All In The Details

While the second floor is the smallest of the spaces, for a micro wedding, we thought it would be perfect. The arched shape of the backdrop wall juxtaposed the handmade rectangular arch, giving lots of dimension to the area. The arch was wrapped in the same fabric for our linens from cocktail hour, dinner, and cake, tying in the bold, blue Spanish print throughout the wedding.

We chose to customize gold bentwood chairs. We lined the aisle in candles and florals leading up to the arch adorned in bougainvillea, peonies, and roses. Cocktail hour featured nothing other than top-shelf tequila in cobalt blue rimmed shot glasses. Limes held the name cards in place for guests. The wall behind the table features the building's original ghost paintings from over 60 years ago!

The dinner table sits in the downstairs great room, set between two monolithic beams. We set the table with unique, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces from Frances Lane. The folding wall added texture along with the exposed brick, and the bold florals lined the runner, smelling as fragrant as they looked.

We interjected gold throughout, as we loved the look of the metallics against wood and print. Our lounge area features all vintage furniture from One True Love Vintage Rentals. A cozy chesterfield sat at the center of the vignette in front of the fireplace and underneath festoons hanging from the sky.

The flowers were our hero piece in this moment with this stunning arrangement. And last but not least, the cake table is showcased with a charming cake from Hans Bakes. We incorporated the arches strewn throughout the venue into the cake and added a daring cascade of water-falling bougainvillea.

Once again, we used the same fabric from the arch and on the table underneath the cake. While this shoot was nothing short of momentous for us, it made the hard work worth it the moment that Nathan proposed to Carla. We set a perfect backdrop, while they were already in the most appropriate attire. We hope that these photos bring you the same joy that the proposal brought us!
