If you’re a jockey, a recreational rider or a horse lover, in general, this styled shoot might just be everything you could ever imagine for your wedding. Even some of us who have failed, miserably - might I add - at horseback riding are in love with the look, and we got moreeee than a [first] look from our friends at Diamond Events. Stephanie, her team, and a seriously-impressive stable of wedding professionals came together to make this shoot shine, and we’re all about it. ((Kind of making us forget about unicorns for the moment, to be honest! Shhh)).
… especially when a venue itself can spur the entire shoot. And it did! From Stephanie Dasch at Diamond Events:
“Rich in history, our inspiration came from one of the most famous equestrian landmarks in the heart of horse country, Fox Chase Farm. Its newly-completed event space, The Middleburg Barn, boasts tall ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers, beautiful wood paneling, and a tree-lined driveway that creates a picturesque southern feel.”
Ohh it’s beautiful! Like the ‘barn of our dreams’ kind of beautiful. The photos that were and can be captured in this venue are incredible. Natural light pours in from the windows and floods the space with an uplifting, open airyness, to the point that any shot snapped looks like it was taken during Golden Hour.
“The color palette consisted of wedgewood blue, peach, orange, pops of burgundy, and gold accents. The lush florals by Diamond Events, included beautiful peach Juliet garden roses, spray roses, tulips, astilbe, stock, ilex berries, eucalyptus. and gorgeous ranunculus. A mix of vintage rentals by Paisley and Jade added character and warmth to the shoot. The guest tables were decorated with long strands of garland using fresh floral accents, brass candlesticks, whimsically-mixed wooden chairs, and fine linens. Elegant oval letterpress menu cards were left at each place setting, accompanying a beautiful stationery suite custom designed by Curious Fox Press. The round two tier cake made by Signature Sweets by Amanda and displayed on a vintage bar cart paired soft watercolor strokes and metallic gold accents for an impression that was dually elegant and vintage.” .
Firstly, the orange, peach, and wedgewood blue swatch situation is giving us life. Secondly, the gold flatware and crisp white vintage china plates from Blue Ridge Vintage Affairs pop brilliantly off of the blue linens. And thirdly, those candles. Height, height, height. 🙌 Such creativity and smart execution for a setting that can honestly feel like it’s swallowing up guests. It’s so well-balanced!! That’s not a concern whatsoever.
Oh... and those blue thistles on the cake almost look like tiny, artful spiders that might be found crawling on a horse. Creepy thought, but fabulous effect!
“There is no denying the connection that our bride and groom shared. The bride wore Tadashi Shoji for BHLDN, which was absolutely perfect for our rustic country theme, and actually provided by Borrowing Magnolia, a great resource for brides who are not interested in keeping their dress, but renting instead. The groom, dressed in a slate blue suit from Generation Tux, made for her classic counterpart.”
And of course, no equestrian shoot would be legit without a horse. The group was graced by an award-winning quarter horse (super handsome, as well) who wasn’t accustomed to sharing the spotlight, but didn’t seem to mind it if it meant he got to nibble on the eucalyptus in the bride’s bouquet…. Don’t we all just love eucalyptus? Our kind of horse!!
We partnered with Diamond Events to make sure our brides' dreams always stay as unbridled as this magical shoot. As always, thank you for supporting our sponsors!
