If you are not in love with color, but for sure do not want to do black and white, metallics might be right up your alley. Our next bride, also not a huge color person went with a metallic palette. The outcome was right on trend an incredibly stylish. In fact, the whole wedding was impeccably fashionable.
The bride in a Monique Lhuillier Gown and the wedding party in ... you guessed it metallics. This gorgeous wedding was designed by Sterling Social and photographed by wildflowers photography. To see more of this wedding click here.
From The Bride on how they meet and got engaged
They say that love happens when you least expect it and that was certainly the case for us...On a random week night in October of 2007, I had dinner plans to go to my friend Megan's house for dinner and apparently her boyfriend (now husband), Steve, invited his friend Mike over as well. Mike is convinced to this day that they were setting us up, but they swear that it was completely innocent and their surprised reaction to our mutual interest in each other was convincing enough that I believe there was no intentional matchmaking going on. But that was definitely the night that we first noticed each other. After we met, he traveled to China for work and went back to St. Louis for Thanksgiving, so we didn't see each other for a couple of months. After growing tired of his playing "hard to get", I invited him to come to our annual holiday "Kissmas" party. He showed up...very late...in true Mike style...but he DID show up and we DID have our first kiss that night (the party lived up to its name!!) and after that the rest was pretty much history. We started dating exclusively in January of 2008 and in April of 2010 we decided to take the plunge and move in together. On February 20, 2011, on Mike's 32nd birthday, I got home from work to find that he wasn't the only one who was getting a present. That night, Mike got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We went out to celebrate with my best friend and her husband (which had been planned, since it was Mike's birthday dinner) and then afterwards Mike asked if I wanted to stop by my mom's to show her the ring. I think that I was so busy staring at my ring the entire car ride over there, that I was completely oblivious to all of the cars lining the street of my mom's house on a Sunday night. I walked in to find my mom, my dad, and about (15) of our closest friends, all of whom Mike had personally called earlier that week to let them in on his little secret. It was so amazing to be able to share that special moment with everyone and I still cannot believe that he pulled it all off without my snooping little self figuring it out!!! It was a PERFECT night.
Remember when we told you that Gold Bridesmaid dresses were hip and happening, our next wedding proves that it really can happen in real life with her wedding party in a metallic palette. Even her, "man of honor," has a gold bow tie. In fact he made the stunning brooch bouquet for the bride. He collected brooches for (8) months leading up to the wedding and the bouquet. Super sweet ... right?
I also really loved the personal touches of our wedding ceremony. A dear friend of my mom's who I had grown up with had gotten ordained. We decided to ask her to marry us, she agreed! I LOVE that we got married by a beautiful blonde in a sassy little black dress! Also, my friend Mary is an amazingly talented jazz singer. Early on, I asked if she would sing for our ceremony. I knew that I wanted to walk down the aisle to I Wanna Hold Your Hand from Across the Universe, but when we were trying to figure out what to walk back up the aisle to at the end of the ceremony, Mike and I could only agree on I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi. So, Mary transformed it into an amazing jazz version that just made my smile even bigger as I walked back up the aisle, watching people realize what song she was singing.
