Stress-Free Peach & Ivory Wedding: A Personal Celebration

Bride and groom holding hands on their wedding day

Hands down weddings are stressful. Planning them, organizing your vendors, and even the actual day can easily make your head spin. Sydney and Thomas took all of this stress in stride and chose to cut anything that wasn't necessary or personally satisfying. No cake, no giant wedding party and no overly packed schedule for this wedding couple. Keep scrolling to see how they spent their wedding day to make it so personal

Pretty Little Memories

From Ashley Link Photography: The entire day was full of emotion, but in the calmest and softest way possible. Sydney's late mother was represented in so many gentle ways, from the subtle tulips (her favorite flower) to the heirloom jewelry.

One of my favorite pieces of the day was a bracelet that Tory, my bride's sister, gifted to Sydney. When Sydney's mom used to write her letters she finished them by signing with the word "always", so Tory had her handwriting printed in gold and attached to a gold chain anklet as a reminder of her love.

Spend The Day How You Want

From the Bride: Don't be afraid to do things your own way. I was intimidated and stressed by the idea of coordinating a large wedding party; my husband has three brothers and many close friends, and I have a wonderful group of girlfriends from school scattered around the country. When we agreed to just have my sister Tory and his friend Greg stand up with us, I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted.

We invited our close friends to join us early in the day for getting-ready festivities (golf for the boys, mimosas and catching up for the girls). I think everyone was relived to have their only responsibility be enjoying themselves, and it really kept the focus on celebrating our marriage in the presence of loved ones. I also love the pictures Ashley was able to capture of us in the park- our friends look like themselves, and we had so much fun with zero stress.

What A Dive

My mother passed away several years ago, and keeping her traditions alive is important to our family. I always loved the story of how the groomsmen "kidnapped" my mom after her wedding ceremony, took her to a dive bar and made her take a celebratory shot of whiskey before returning her to the reception.

We were on a tight schedule following the ceremony and pictures, because I had planned the whole day around getting photos taken in "golden hour" light- best decision ever, as you can see from Ashley's images. The limo driver took what seemed like a wrong turn as we approached the venue, and I immediately starting tearing up. My best friend Alexandra knew how much I loved my mom's story, and had arranged a last-minute stop at Syd's bar, where we took celebratory shots before heading to the reception. It was one of the most meaningful and fun moments of my life, toasting my mom's memory and our new marriage with my best friends, in my wedding gown in the middle of a tiny, crowded bar.
