Be True To You

From the Bride: I am a firm believer in the fact that as long as the wedding represents you, whole-heartedly, as a couple, then no wedding could ever be underwhelming or disappointing. And that’s what we kept in mind throughout the planning process.

Trust Your Maids Fashion Sense

Although we didn’t stick to a strict color scheme, we mainly aimed at using multiple shades of pink with accents of gold and black. This was especially the case when involving the wedding wardrobe… I allowed my bridesmaids to find a gold sequin dress that they loved, felt comfortable in, and suited their body type perfectly. I went non-traditional and designed a custom dress that was made with blush pink lace and tulle, and was finished with a black velvet sash.

Favorite Wedding Detail

I could say, hands down, my favorite element of our wedding had to be a custom illustrated program booklets. Luckily for us, one of our dear friends has begun doing artwork for commission, so we knew we had to put her to work, and great work she did! Our program booklet consisted of a cover page, a love story timeline, an illustrated menu, a bridesmaid’s page, a groomsmen page, and a schedule of our ceremony.

Minimal Modern Style

The decor for the reception remained minimal in volume, but not in style. Our tables were donned with chevron sequin place mats, watercolor escorts cards with beautiful calligraphy, bud vases, mixed vintage brass candlesticks, and handmade illustrated menus (a DIY project done by the bride).

A Foodie's Paradise

A restaurant might be slightly odd choice to some of you, but as a self-proclaimed foodie (and food blogger) and my husband’s need for great food in order to be satisfied, JCT Kitchen was absolutely storybook perfect. It was especially sentimental because we go on a weekly date night at JCT and are considered regulars, so why not have your wedding there with some killer wedding food to boot?

And of course, not to be out-done by the plated meal, came our desserts. We started with passed slices of rum sopped coconut tres leches cake with a roasted strawberry topping, followed by pie bar, and finally rounding out the rounds of sweets, were the midnight snack of freshly fried “Cronuts” served on platters to guests getting their groove on out on the dance floor.
