include scents and sound

Our wedding color scheme was ivory, gold and blush and the style was opulent and timeless. I worked really hard on creating the perfect ambiance throughout the day, whilst still keeping things unique and true to our relationship. We subtly injected our favorite scents into the rooms, using a romantic rose scent for the Wedding Breakfast and a holiday-inspired coconut infused scent for the evening reception. As for the music, we kept it very traditional during the ceremony where a string quartet performed. Throughout the Wedding Breakfast, we turned up the tempo and had music from our favorite films, including Titanic, Beauty and the Beast and Jurassic Park, performed by a pianist.

fun photo escort cards

We had a pretty traditional English wedding with a catholic ceremony, followed by what we would like to describe as a 'fun' reception.  Aside from all the stunning decor, I really wanted to make sure there were lots of personal elements on our wedding day so each guest knew how special they are to us. For the escort cards, I came up with the idea to incorporate each guest's picture onto their card. So I searched the internet and old photo albums to find a (preferably funny) picture of each guest. These were then hung from garden furniture outside, covered in ivy and flowers with a sign that read "Find your face to reveal your place!" It was incredibly time consuming to create one hundred and twenty of these, but SO worth it to see the look on everybody's faces when they found them!

illustrated table names

We designed our wedding based on us; our relationship over the past twelve years and our guests who have been by our side through it all. We had twelve tables and each table was named after a different place which has been of great significance in our relationship. For instance, the top table was called "Paris", the place where Andrew proposed. We had a table called "New York" - our favorite holiday destination, a table named "Morrisons" - the supermarket where we first met, and so on. We had an illustrator design bespoke sketches for each of these places and presented them in a pretty ornate frame on each table, with a brief description as to why that place was significant to us beneath the sketch. Our guests seemed to get a great understanding of our 'journey' after the wedding day. Each table was like a little story of us!

custom menu with a surprise

When the guests were seated, their place setting included a customized menu within the charger plate with their name on top. The bottom of each menu read "P.S. LIFT UP YOUR MENU, THERE'S A LITTLE SURPRISE UNDERNEATH!" Each guest was then greeted with a little note from either Andrew or myself, typically reminding them of a memory that we had shared together. The gents notes were presented on baby blue paper and the ladies on baby pink.
