Using intimate English Garden Parties as inspiration, Laurel White Design masterfully created the classy, non-stuffy, Sunday Brunch reception Jimmy and Chelsea were looking for. The ceremony was outdoors as well — decorated with blooming florals and blue accents. Located along the San Antonio River Walk, the patio at Club Giraud was the perfect location for the elegant, vintage event. From the Bride:When Jimmy and I first got engaged, I knew that I wanted to incorporate our love for sunny days and all things nature into our special day, so a brunch wedding on a patio overlooking the San Antonio River was the perfect setting for us. It was really important to us to keep it laid back, where we felt comfortable to truly celebrate with our friends and family. Throw in some mimosas, and we did just that!
To create the garden setting, Laurel White Design worked with Fresh Urban Flowers to make the stunning decor of elaborate hanging baskets and giant iron lanterns filled with pastel blooms.
I am a lover of all things unique and beautiful, so it was difficult for me to picture how I was going to incorporate everything, while making it seem somewhat cohesive at the same time. This is where Laurel White, my wedding designer/planner, came into the picture. She was able to help me really decide what best represented us as a couple, and truly made it come to life.Chelsea and Jimmy share a love of nature, so rather than having a traditional guest book they asked their guest to "log-in" by signing a cross section of a tree. Keeping with the nature theme, each guest received a potted succulent as a wedding favor which they were asked to plant when they returned home.
I wish we would have allowed more time for the reception. Like most brides, I didn't want the day to end, and I felt like we didn't have enough time to mingle with all of our friends and family. Although I was glad that everything ran according to schedule, it might have been nice to allow a little more time for doing nothing except enjoying the day with friends and family.
My advice for other brides would be to never go back on what you want, and what you feel truly represents you as a couple. There are lots of opinions and ideas, but you have to hold true to yourself! Also, get a wedding coordinator! I am an event planner myself, and never thought I would need help planning my wedding. I was wrong. It was so nice to completely enjoy the day of the wedding, knowing that everything was in good hands.
Birdseed was flung in every direction as the happy couple exited to their get-away barge while "All You Need is Love" by The Beatles played in the background. Chelsea tossed her bouquet from the boat before the entire wedding party floated down the San Antonio River.
