Stunning Un-Wedding: Peach Garden Inspiration with DIY & Vendor Showcase

Groom kissing bride's neck at their elegant wedding ceremony

It might surprise you to find out that our next feature is entirely staged, and is actually an un-wedding. Utah wedding vendors Peter Loves Jane and Ella Bella Floral & Event Planning came up with the idea to host an event that had all the elements of a wedding, but was not really a wedding at all. An affair to inspire brides, let vendors show off their talents and basically host the wedding of their dreams.
With a plethora of vendors including five photographers, there is plenty of eye-candy to check out. Tons of peach florals, fancy cakes and diy projects that we know you will love. You can see more vintage garden peach wedding ideas in the full gallery, or check out the actual digital magazine here. Read on to here more of the juicy details on this un-wedding.

During our real brainstorming sessions, we realized that we were going to have a tough time narrowing down our ideas into a single event concept, so we decided to pass the decision on to our blog readers. First, we collected a number of style boards, uploaded them to our blog, and asked our readers to vote for their favorite. It was close race for a number of days, and the garden style board pulled ahead at the literal last minute. With vintage style board being such a close second, we opted to let vintage styling influence our garden wedding. Next, we collected some of our favorite color inspiration boards and put them up for voting. Not surprising the colors of nudes, blush and peach hues won by landslide.

The wooden crates that we stacked on the sides of the draperies were also very inexpensive, easy and added that earthy element to our garden style wedding. We found those at local antique stores for less than $10 each. We stacked them and put flowers and photos of the couple on them. I love that they can be re-purposed after the wedding. They can become wall-mounted shelves, end tables, a coffee table; the possibilities are as endless as your imagination or what you can find on Pinterest!

One of my favorite features of this wedding was the pallet stage. It was about as inexpensive and easy as could be. I purchased the pallets from a local pallet building company (I wanted to make sure they were sturdy and not falling apart) for $3 each. To assemble the stage, we simply laid 4 of them on top of a section of felt on the floor and then stacked 2 more on the center seam. We secured them with screws for peace of mind, but I'm sure they would have stayed together fine without. The company even refunded my money when I returned them, so it really cost me nothing.

A currently popular DIY element is the lace lanterns. The lanterns are made by overlapping lace doilies on an inflated balloon and brushing fabric stiffener (or wallpaper glue, or even white glue) onto the doilies. Be sure to cover it completely so that the whole thing hardens and you aren't left with limp spots. Let the doilies dry overnight to ensure that they are completely dry. The last step is to pop the balloon and pull it out of the opening. The lanterns can be hung with a ribbon or fishing line draped with strands of beads, as was done in our event.
